Just bought an 8x6 Polycarbonate Greenhouse.

    looks like this:

Haven't a huge garden so this was the very biggest i could get. However, I do have the benefit of a west facing garden. So will put greenhouse against north fence - so it can get maximum light.

Anyway I bought one two tiered staging table. I reckon I'll need to buy another.

I have a few questions - for the floor - do you just leave dirt, or should i put down something? Concrete isn't an option.

What tips do you have for saving space, hanging baskets etc.?

Would like to hear as much as possible from people who have greenhouses - all stories greatly appreciated - looking forward to growing some nice vegetables etc.

    Hey RE*AC*TOR,
Avoid leaving the floor of the glasshouse in just soil.
It can never be swept clean, believe me a glasshouse is stuffy enough without you kicking up a dust-cloud of soil and spilt potting compost.
A base of concrete, brick or pavers as flooring can be swept and will enhance the cooling effect of evaporation if hosed down.

    Hi RE*AC*TOR,

I'm thinking of buying a greenhouse for myself, I like the look of that one.

Can i ask a few questions.

how much did it cost and where did you get it?

    Thanks.

    8 foot by 6 foot.

it cost about €347 in B&Q in liffey valley (15% discount at the moment).

The one thing is you need a decent amount of tools and time to assemble. Drill, Stepladder, bradawl, silicone sealant etc.

I bought it yesterday, getting my dad to help me put it together next thursday though.

Depending on how you will lay out the shelving I have seen many that use sections of the floor for extra planting, with paving slabs up the middle.

i actually considered that - thought it would make sense tbh. - although in the winter it might be a problem with frost etc.

Give yourself plenty of time Reactor! Putting the U channel onto the ends of the polycarbonate sheets is a real bitch of a job!

Edit Then again looking at your photo it looks different to the one I got in B&Q. Mine is like the standard green house frame but with "double glazed!" polycarbonate instead of glass, would not recommend it!
