i came home last night and there was a slight problem with my sky plus box.
most of the shows i had set to record had failed because of a loss of signal.
some of the channels were showing the "no signal being recieved" message.
i just got up and the problem was still there. i rebooted the box and now i can't get anything at all.

the input lock indicators are showing "not locked".

anyone know what is wrong here?

Sounds like your dish got nudged....bring up the signal quality screen and try and nudge it back...

well there was that storm last night. might have had something to do with it.
i just remembered that i have an old digibox upstairs. i'll check that first to see if i can get a signal on it.

EDIT: no signal on that one either. looks like you were right. thanks.

off to the neighbours to get a ladder.

ok. i moved the dish around a bit and couldn't get a signal. there's not too much give in it, so it couldn't have moved very far, if at all.
could the lnb be blown and if so, how would i be able to tell? can the lnb be blown? i opened one up once to see what was inside and all itt was was a hollow tube with differing layers of aluminium (or whatever metal it's made from).

turns out it was the lnb.
a friend called around with one of those thingies that finds the signal and stuff. couldn't get anything with the old lnb, so he lent me a single one until i get a quad.
the sky + is working fine with just the one input. i think they're fooling us all with that two cable nonsense.
