My sister has a weightwatchers program that allows to type in different food etc and it calculates the points etc etc, she has it loaded on her home pc and her work one.

the thing is she works from home some days and work others, when you open it it asks you to load cd .

other than constantly insertign the cd at work she'd like just to copy it all over to her hard drive but is there a way of redirecting it so it will open from say her c drive rather than asking to load cd in D drive ?

    thanks
(she asked me, as if I'd know, God love her )

Im not sure about this particular program but some of the files are probably left on the CD and required to make it run on the computer, thats just the way its made. Is there an install program on the CD? Sometimes there might be an option to do a full install (no cd needed) or it might be custom (in that case, tick all the files that are listed).

It's a software restriction, designed to prevent people from using it on two different machines. In the past, it was possible to bypass this by simply making a copy of the CD, but there are modern techniques for even preventing that.

She'd need to ask the people she bought it from if it's ok to copy the CD for this purpose.

It is completly legal for her to make a backup of the cd in case she loses it though. In which case she would need to use a program called Alcohol 120% to create a image of the cd, which she could then use if she ever lost the original.

But that depends on weither she agreed to rent the software in question, in which case she would need to ask the copyright holders if she is allowed make a backup.

sorry to jump in but where did she get the software? My wife and I are both doing Weight Watchers and I've been looking for something like this for ages.

Use Daemon Tools to mount the CD on the hard drive and the computer will think it's in your CD drive whenever you need it to. It's kind of like PC voodoo.

    Muhahahaha!
