i need to go into dublin one day this week and park for 6 hours or so during the day, say 2pm to 8pm. coming in from the airport and want to meet some people in town before heading on.

do any of the car parks in the city do a full-day rate that would work out cheaper than paying by the hour?

i guess my alternative is park-and-ride in say glasnevin and hop on a bus into town... are there any official park-and-ride facilities on the north side? I guess it's still free roadside parking in glasnevin/drumcondra?

    thanks

I can't say that it is the cheapest car park, but one of the easiest to get parked in at most times of the day is that of Connolly Station. Most of the main parks will do daily rates, it's getting into them that is the fun.

If you are coming in from the airport, their long term rate is €8.50 for the day, though one of the private companies offer parking for €5 if pre booked (it's the one by Dardistown graveyard) and it is on the bus routes into town.

Most of Drumcondra is paid parking though the areas that are paid are the older red brick parts of it. Glasnevin is pretty much free parking most areas; avoid again the older parts of town as they tend to be the charged areas.

Connolly Station car park is e1.50/hour, or e14/day for non-rail travellers.

AA Roadwatch lists car parks in Dublin with prices and locations.
