In the next 2 years I am gonna try my hardest to get a job XD after i turn 14) And I will start saving up for parts as I will have a nice big project going in school hopefully :) I tend to build a huge big monster truck :)
Now: I am planning litle bits form it now, and ehre is the engine I would like to run: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCNA4&P=7 then possibly the transmission form the genisis/nemisis and they have great big engines and should hold up to it :) will that engine be able to power a big mosnter truck around, as it is designed for helis;)

this project may never start but me wants to plan it ;-)

You can't work till your 16 then add in the amount of polish, try getting a job then. When you say big, how big? The Genisis weighs 17LPS and has no trouble getting over 40mph with that huge, pointless .46 engine and yeah that transmission is bullet proof. Tower hobbies don't do Cen and the prices of engines here are way too dear, even ask vectra. Why not buy a genisis cause theres a new one coming out, the body is the nicest I saw on a RTR to date:)

wont be as big as a genisis, and the whole point of building it is learning and dveloping my skills :) and i dont need like working in a shop, just doing odd jobs around the area (neighbours)

That should be fun building it:) I think a normal flat chassis would be a start not like the revo one cause then you'd be lost. How could you make all the plastic parts? I think that engine won't fit the size of the truck your after, its .7ci that means it dewarves the genisis engine:eek: Add the amount of torque and you'll soon find out your diffs won't handle it. I think a smaller performance engine like the 3.3 would be enough as it is extremly high revving, upwards of 40000-50000rpm. Just a few things to take into acount there;)

i know, thats why I was looking at the genisis parts, it would be almost all alloy, apart form the parts that i cant get/make yes this will be a MONTSER! im thinking genisis size, maybe slightly bigger seeeing the size of the engine, I want this to be very powerfull, dont want peopel to see the average car/truck engine in it XD

why not go REALLY big and use a petrol engine from one of the 1/5 th scale buggies?

I like the idea of getting a real 1:1 monster truck, so I will get one!:D:rolleyes:
I would think about the 1:5th engines but I dont know where to get them and how much they costs :O

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,248 ✭✭✭Plug

They would cost bomb but are cheaper to run in the long run with petrol. How are you going to make the plastic and metal parts?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

tower hobbies stock the 1/5th engines. i can get the stock numbers for you if ya want.

This is going to have to be a huge monster truck to have that engine. Just think for a second that engine, a large pipe and a big fuel tank. You'll need a 1/4 scale servo to steer with all that weight which will eat batterys so you'll have to use a big recharable nicd battery which adds even more weight. Then on top of that what about all the metal parts? Its going to be as heavy as a sherman tank and as dear as a moped by the time your finished.
Just chillaxe and think whats your budget. Why not buy a kit instead. Or just build a small nitro monster truck with maybe 2 nitro engines, this would be quicker than a 20pound petrol truck and much cheaper. Just a few pointers for ya;)

I said before, I want to develop and learn skills ;-) I might be able to get the best part of the metal FREE :) I will have to pay for all the electronics and things I cant mkae tho ;-)
Just building a kit, thats not differnt and I havnt really learned any new skills for my metelwork class;)
