Right, did the hardest by actually getting a Bandit but now I want to make sure nobody takes it away from me or messes with it.

Could anybody recommend an Alarm + Immobiliser? Any particular brand to recommend? Any particular shop to recommend? How much am I looking at for a proper one?

    Thank you in advance! ;)

Try this guy, he has done 3 bikes for me.
    http://www.biker.ie/forum/index.php?showtopic=5554&hl=alarm
I cant recommend him highly enough.
Not sure if he has the best prices, but I think his work is excellent. No dodgy connectors or unsightly wires, unlike some work I have seen. And he will only sell you stuff that he feels he can stand over, he wont offload crap on u just cos he can make a quick buck.
And no... he`s not payin me to say this lol (just rare to see high quality work in this country!)

Thank you Dok! I sent him an e-mail. Where is he located in Dublin? Does he do call-outs?

hes based not too far from Kinnegad. Not sure if he does call outs, I think he used to alright, but only he can answer that! lol

Rang Joe and he asked me to ride down to Kinnegad on Wednesday evening. He'll be doing everything then (should take him around 2 hours). I'm delighted! €350 EUR right now is killing me but I really want to get this done ASAP! Living in Dublin and all... And it should also lower my insurance somewhat (hopefully)...

    Thanks again Dok! :)

I personally wouldn't bother with an alarm, i have one on my bike, top of the range datatool alarm and i think it's more hassle than it's worth. A big f*ck off chain will keep your bike safe. If somebody is going to kick you bike over, an alarm isn't going to help as it will already be on the ground!!!!

BrynW.....I dont know where to start! You might only have your bike because of the alarm you have on it!
"If somebody is going to kick you bike over, an alarm isn't going to help as it will already be on the ground". Mmmm. How would the lock help here?

I do half agree with you in that you need a good lock alright but with a good alarm.

The Doktor......who are you? Thanks for the kind words. Good to here I have a few regular customers. Let me know if you need another one at some stage and I will look after you .

    Steffano2002.....see you Weds my man........

Well obviously you are going to defend alarms on bikes seeing as you sell them mate :p lol

You are right, if somebody kicks over my bike, a lock won't help either, but an alarm if useless in this case aswell. A big chain (or 2 in my case) is a lot more of a deterant than any alarm. My alarm will beep when i turn the alarm off if anybody has been messing with it. The only time my alarm has ever been messed with is twice when i saw 2 kids set it off outside where i used to work by bumping into it.........i used to work in a big shopping centre. It was set off by my mates a few times by getting on my bike when they didn't realise it was alarmed aswell.

I ALWAYS have 2 chain locks and a big disc lock on my bike. It is always chained to something immoveable except when it's parked in my office's underground car park.

The alarm that i have on my bike is a datatool system 3 alarm put on by datatool. To be honest, i won't be putting an alarm an any of my other bikes, they are just more hassle than they are worth in my opinion :)

I'm definitely going to fit one for piece of mind... You never know, it could deter a robber (along with my chain and disc brake - I think I'll get a second chain also) or keep people/kids from messing with it/climbing on it. The immobiliser will also help to appease my mind...

And I hope Carole Nash will knock off a fair amount off my premium! I'll ring them to find out tomorrow and let you know.

See you on Wednesday Joe! ;)

The way I look at it, yeah, an alarm really wont stop your bike being robbed if they want it. But neither will a big f*ck off chain.
I feel they are all a good deterant. If a bike robbin scumbag looks at your bike and reckons he will rob it as crime of oppertunity, sees you have an alarm and a decent lock/chain, he may just leave it. If you dont, he might just take it for a spin.
If you spend a couple of grand on your new bike, i think you are mad not to get a good alarm. You can always take it off and transfer it to the next bike (if you could be bothered).

Maybe get the pager too ? useful add-on if you're getting an alarm anyway.

The idea crossed my mind but to what distance do these work exactly? Are they expensive?

Someone keeps messing with my bike and I have a big chain on it. I'm so sick of it that I'm gona get an alarm.

Sure take it out and post it to me. I'll take it no problem. I'll even give it back to ya when your bike gets robbed, or when you get p!ssed off with kids messing with your bike. ;)

I need to get one of the ones with a pager that goes off when the alarm does so I can run out and bate whoever is fvnkin with it...

I had one on my last bike (will be getting one on the new one too). Was great when u run out and someone is "taking a look at it" and you can have a quiet word in there ear. They always look at you, and you can see they really want to know "how the f uck did you know??"

Last week was stopped in some town, and there was a brand new Ducati parked down the street from me. While I was there, some aul one had her child sitting on the tank and was getting him to turn the handle bars (and no.. it wasnt her bike:D )..thats why u need an alarm! Imagine comming back to ur brand new Ducati to find a few marks on you once lovely red tank!!!

Or worse! Coming back and finding your bike on its side!

BTW Dok, got Joe to install my top of the range Datatool System 4 alarm earlier! :D I'm delighted with it!
Joe advised me on which pager to get and as soon as I get one I'll go back down to him to get it fitted.

For all of you out there thinking about getting a proper alarm fitted professionally, give Joe a shout! He's really good at what he does and he's sound! ;) And his crazy dog Rex will keep you occupied if you go down to him in Kinnegad! hehehehe

He is good alright. Im very picky about who I let near my bike. And even worse when it comes to electrical stuff. He would be the only person I`d let near mine to put in an alarm or anything like it.

You need someone like him for alarm installs, have had the joy of a gsxr11m cutting out suddenly overtaking a truck due to a dodgy alarm install.Well iritating repairing wiring someone has butchered too.
