Hi all, just bought some RAM for my MBP and IMAC G5. They both have 512 atm as i didnt have the cash to buy them fully kitted out.

Anyways, what i want to know is, if there is more than one RAM slot in each machine do i just add in the additional gig i bought for both, resulting in a gig and a half of RAM in both machines?

Thats how it would work, personaly i'd prefer the gig stick in the 1st slot

Lovely! Why the gig stick in the fist slot?

I presume the OS looks to the first slot initially, and uses it first. So it would make sense that the most memory is in the first slot.

Gooner where did you buy the MBP ram?

Im lookin into buying some ram for my white macbook.

A gig from crucial is €137.46.

    I found this on Komplett:
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=318078&view=detailed

    Its €101.00.

Im not sure if thats the right ram for my macbook. Please can someone tell me if thats ok for the macbook and if so, is there any reason why I should pay more to get the ram from crucial.

    Thanks if anyone can help.

Komplett provide a memory selector at the top of their memory page. Use this to find the correct memory for your Macs. In my experience deviating from this is bad news. I've bought spurious RAM with the exact same spec as that stated for my Powermac G5 and it simply won't work. buy whats recommended and save money, time and headaches.

Seems from this review you would be better trying to keep the twoDimms the same as you will get better speed on the memore Bus. 128 instead of 64 bit

My RAM arrived earlier and I just installd. Imac G5 was grand just unscrew back and pop it in. MPB on the other hand, holy crap! lucky for me I had a spectacle repair kit handy and the screwdriver was a similar size. Screws are miniscule and wouldn't turn, had to then get a pliers to hold mini screw driver and turn the screws!! Jesus wept.

    Sorted now though!! :D
