Got it last night on DVD and it scared the sh1t out of me... Wasn't expecting it to be as scary/freaky as it was.. Some very disturbing scenes in there, anyone else see it??

Never saw the original, but I thought this was quite good!
It does have one of the best deaths ever...mutant gets his foot nailed into the ground, impaled through the neck with a flag and then stabbed in the face with an axe. How can you beat that??
    Anyway, very enjoyable imo.

Saw the original, did not like it.

Loved the remake though, great film and very enjoyable. I hear there were some scenes missing in Irish cinemas, can anyone throw some light on this?

I thought the scene with the father outside the trailer was horrific... Was close to turning it off at that point.. Don't know how to do that spoiler thing so hope you know the bit I'm on about..

    :o

    Spoiler:

Just quote something, then change the word "quote" to spoiler, the tags work the same. :)

    Spoiler:

The part where the dad is tied to a poll and set on fire outside the trailer and his wife has to watch him burning to death for about 10 minutes

Christ that was bad.. Think my next rental will be a Disney ;)

The stuff was missing from all cinemas. It was cut by the MPAA to avoid an NC-17 rating and the same print was used worldwide. The DVD is uncut. The only scene I can recall that was cut is
the second bullet shot to the main bad guy at the end, making it more shocking when he gets back up.
Other than that just various moments of grimness I imagine.

I watched it the other night and thought it was great, I didn't really find it scary but it was really enjoyable and the gore was nice! :D

Aaron Standford was a really good lead, and the direction was nice, this makes me want to see Switchblade Romance which Aja(the director) also did.

    I'd give it 4 out of 5

Yeah, wasnt a bad film at all, I happened to come across the original on Film 4 a few nights after I'd watched the remake. Wasnt overly impressed with the remake in the flix, I'd expected more, but I'll check out the dvd release to see the cut bits.
The original is pretty freaky tho, the actors playing the freaks are really really freaky looking, and I think its natural, rather than special effects.

Would like to see Cravens 'Last House On The LEft' now too, which is along a similiar vein.

Switchblade Romance is class, Aja is one of the finest directors out there, IMO - along with Guillermo Del Toro, roll on Pans Labyrinth!

A couple of months ago, i downloaded the re-make, it was titled 'the Hills have Eyes, the version to die for" Iit was quoted that it was the version you wish you haden't seen. Completely uncut. My god, i love gore movies but what a great job Aja did. He has lives upto Cravens Original.

Back then, Craven was trying the whole psychologically shocking scenes,(such as Last HOUSE ON THE LEFT, his first feature, anyone that has seen that will confirm it) so to see it happen in the remake again was great, the film is different but it lives upto the original and as a completely separate movie too. Can't wait fot the second one..... Yes, they are going remaking the sequel but its not gonna be anything like the original sequel. People who have seen it, there is no dog flashback(thank fcuk)..... Craven said he is going writing the script and focusing oin the tunnels in the desert... Can't wait... the original sequel was rushed to be made... and suffered because of it...
