    Guys,

Having windows installed at the moment (new build) and I have a question about bay windows or more precisely the top of them...

The bay windows, comprised of 1 front & 2 sides fixed together, sit on the window sill and are fixed back against the house. What goes on top ??

The double glazing people are telling me my carpenter needs to build some sort of a box which sits on top of the windows?? Looking at the gap between the top of the windows and the soffet its only about 3 or 4 inches so what do I do ?

What is normally done in this situation?

    Cheers
    Jayo

Precast Glass fibre or even PVC canopy tops are available but only suit certain size windows. If your supplier doesn,t have them or cant fit them its most likely due to the fact your window is not the right size.

You will therefore need a carpanter to make up a canopy for it

Bay windows of the set out you describe, are normally roofed with the same covering as the existing roof.

A smmal cut roof is hipped onto the sections of the bay window, and the soffet would have encircled the perimeter of the bay sections, at the same level of the existing line. And the roof on the bay window would be run into the existing roof.

Definitely a job for a tastey roofer. If you need to source one let me know
