GF car just failed her NCT - 01 Yaris- "rear axle imblance/brake ovality "? was 43% rather than within the 30% required.

Is this a case of just new shocks? or brakes? or what is needed to sort it - want to know when heading to the garage so she dont get ripped off by replacing unnecessary parts. The guy in NCT was of no help

    - when asked he said he didnt know why or how much! Cheers.!

Did it fail on brake ovality or brake imbalance or both. They are two separate things. If it is just an imbalance new rear brake shoes and an adjustment of the rear brakes may fix it. If the car has failed on ovality new drums may be needed as well.

It should have nothing to do with the shocks anyway.

Nice one - not sure if its both imbalance/ovality or just ovality. Will double check. (ovality only I think.)

Will changing the drums be a quick and easy job in a garage (€€€€ ?) or something a bit more time consuming?
