Plumbing a Washing Machine - Quick Question.

I'm moving my washing machine from a location with both hot and cold water supply to a location with cold water only.

Is this OK and what do I do with the hot water supply pipe for the machine - do I leave it hanging loose or do I need to connect it to the cold water supply?

    Anybody any ideas?

No worries. Get a 3/4 BSP threaded blanking cap and screw it onto the hot water male 3/4 plastic thread on the washing machine.

Make sure the plumbing store does not give you a standard 3/4 blanking cap that has the same thread as that found on standard 3/4 compression fittings for the nuts and rings. Try the one they give you on an actual 3/4 BSP thread from another fitting say a 3/4 311 fitting. They will probably give you the wrong one otherwise.

Just connect a blue cold water feed hose to the cold connection and check if the machine has a built in water heater which it should have.

Cheers guys. I got the Y connector and it seems fine - I'd a small weep but I removed the seal from the Y and covered it in Vaseline and it's been bone dry for the last few hours.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
