Troubles

Having some troubles here and was looking for advice,

tonight in dublin was 2 powercuts, i left my computer off after the first and unplugged it, was in the middle of playing mmo the first time. But anyhow I wait for 30-40 mins and normal power returns, i plug back in my computer and boot it up.

My CPU has now changed to 1.29GhZ from a recently 2.1ghz (amd xp3000+)

Any ideas as to what may be causing this? im completely confused by it all

Machine im running is

amd xp3000+
2gb pc3200 ram
Abit AN7 mobo
radeon x800 pro gfx card

etc..

wondering what has happened basically as im rather confused by the whole thing, have had power cuts before and nothing like this has happened

hmm yeh after looking for a 3rd time around BIOS it struck me that because of the powercut the mobo went into fail-safe mode to avoid anything bad happening to the components.

Should have known really myself, but its 6am and im rather confused and hazy this morning!

note:

power cuts are bad, not because of what they do to your computer but let me give you an example of whats been happening since 5am.

5am: power cut - upon power cutting on my street, every house alarm goes off.

5:25am: after every house alarm (or most) still being on, and the one in our house making you feel like you have tinitus in your ear, it finally comes back on.. which in turn when the power comes back on after a power cut the clinic across the road alarm starts to sound off (its a fire bell sound basically..)

5:26: power goes off again.. the clinics fire bell stops and all street house alarms go again, the ones that had been turned off are now back on and the tinitus like feeling from our house alarm pi**es me off even more

5:40!! power back on......... all street house alarms stop, and clinic across road alarm begins, cue fire bell sound..

so along with computer problems (or my silliness in this case) its now 6:40!! and the clinics alarm is still ringing very bloody loud, enough for me wanting to go across there and smash the alarm to pieces.

Its saturday, im guessing there will be no staff for hours if at all, and someone better get here bloody quick!

alas... i will stop ranting.

Good to be back on boards on a final note, will try to pop my head in more often instead of going head first into mmo's constantly! (note:mmo's can be bad for health/cleanliness and lack of shaving, best to stay away at all costs)

Just as well you plugged it out, cos' that sounds like there was a power surge at 5.25am in your timeline there. That could certainly have done some damage.
