Smells like fish

Playing a pokerevents pub tourney the other night, my first pub game in about a year so it was interesting to say the least. I was involved in this hand on the final table, here's how the sheeeat went down...

8 Players left from 18, top 4 get paid, I have 12k which seems to be the average stack size. From playing with these players all evening I think I should have no trouble out playing most of them, only 2 or 3 other poker heads, the rest are semi to very drunk. Table has been quiet enough apart from the banter, not much reraising or flop play.

    Blinds 500-1000
Folded around to me in MP and I have KQs. I raise to 4k, I think this is ok for my hand and I'm happy to take the blinds. Fold, fold, fold, and the small blind, who has me covered wakes up with a hand. He was on my left at the start of the night so I have some info. He played very tight but only because I think he was getting trash hands. However he did reraise all-in probably more often than he should have, once with QQ and didn't see the rest. He's also by now one of the drunk fishes which affects things greatly. Anyway after much chip counting he 'puts me all-in'. BB folds and the action is back on me and my first thought is to muck it and move on for a better spot. I don't really think my KQs is good anymore unless he's got JJ or less but I go into the tank until time is called. If I fold I've only 8 BBs left but if I win I've 25BBs and a good shot at winning this thing.

So, question time before I reveal the outcome, how often are you calling with KQs here? And does anyone know how often I'm going to be a big dog in this situation? This is the last thing I want because I know I can do well on this table and but I don't fancy being left with 8k and having to push with a non-premium hand.

    Thanks in advance

First of all, you're not outplaying anyone with a 12BB stack. God himself isn't outplaying anyone here. :) It's all down to who wins the most all-ins from here on in.

KQ here is a very marginal call. You're getting 2/1 on your money and you're about a 2/1 dog at best, unless the tight SB has gone totally crazy. I doubt I could find a call here. Keep your 8BBs and go into push mode.

Edit: Just had a look at the ranges. If he's pushing with 88+, AJ+, you're getting priced in for a call (about 36% dog, with 33% BE). So a call is not too bad, if marginal. If the range gets any wider, I'm leaning much more towards a call.

TBH 12BBs wasn't actually that low, we were entering crapshoot territory afterall. :D Chip leader had less than 30k so any double up would be welcome.

Ya thats with it all comes down to now as i'm happy with the 2/1, how wide is his range because my call is marginal at best. If he's any good then his reraise all-in hands here are probably AA KK QQ AK and maybe JJ. If he's in fish mode then I could also expect to see AQ, AJ, AT and TT-88.
Anyway after much much deliberation I decided his range was probably wide enough to give me a reason to call. He turns over an aggressively played 66, flop comes queen high and I pickup a straight to broadway on teh river to clinch it.

Its worth much now that you revealed it, but i'd pf caled too. Drunk mode combined with crapshoot time = call. Could of had you kicked, but often the low pair or face/face was here.
