Baby chinchillas

I can't see anything in the charter against this, but apologies to the mods if it's for some reason unsuitable. I've noticed interest in the past so thought I'd just let you all know what I have available. Please feel free to move if necessary.
Edit: I didn't put this in the for sale forum because I don't like to "sell" my animals as such, I don't breed them for profit. But unfortunately it costs a lot to give them the very best of everything, so it has to be covered.

Anyway, I have two gorgeous little baby chinchillas ready to go to a new home.
They're sisters and have been kept together since birth, so I would like them to go together, and preference will be given to anyone who will take the two.
One is a standard grey, the other a silver mosaic.
They have been handled from birth so are very tame and responsive, and will make lovely pets for the right owner

Here's the standard grey with mum about an hour after birth.

    The whole family

And both of them with dad

Two more small photos. The grey, and then both of them with their other sibling.

They are of course much bigger than this now, but I'm in the process of trying to get the little buggers to sit still for long enough to take some nice photos :) I'll upload some new ones later tonight.

They may look adorable, but chinchillas are not the right pet for everyone. They require a lot of hard work and attention and they generally don't like to be cuddled like some other small pets.
They can also live up to 20 years if looked after well, so they are a long term commitment.

I'm not going to type a big long post about their parents/health/breeding/etc. but I will of course disclose this information to anyone who is interested, and you will be more than welcome to come along and view them with their parents.

Please send me a PM for futher information/photos/anything else you require. I'll be happy to help if you'd like to know more about chinchillas and how to care for them.

Please note: I reserve the right to refuse any offer if I deem that the home would be unsuitable.

If they had been boys I would have taken them :) I have 4 females at the moment looking for loving husbands.

If you have any males in the future give me a shout :)

Strangely enough I'm looking for males myself at the moment :)
My last litter was female triplets, and it seems the more desperate I am to get hold of a male the more only females are available.

These two are absolutely gorgeous, I'd hold onto them myself but it's just not feasible at the moment. However, if I don't find a home for them that I'm 150% happy with they'll be staying right where they are.

I'll let you know if I have any males at some point anyway :)

You're not interested in some are you? :p

Here are a couple of new pictures of the silver mosaic.
It's very difficult to get them to sit for a nice picture :p
I'll try and get a pic of the other one now.

If you need any help at all please don't hesitate to contact me, I will be more than willing to answer any questions you might have :)

Also if you feel you are not ready right now but would like to have chinchillas in the future, I will have plenty more available to go to good homes later in the year. (Gives me an excellent excuse to hang on to these two little beauties myself :p)

Like I said, don't be afraid to contact me if you would like help with anything :)

hi, i have a post in a pets forum offering a home for 1 of these babys for some time,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭bounty_hunter

I did see that actually :) I wasn't sure if you were still interested though so left it for now.
Thing is, these two don't "need" a home, they can stay with me if necessary. It's just that there is usually quite a demand for good pet chinchillas so I thought I'd offer :)

    Are you interested?

    UPDATE:
These particular two are no longer available for rehoming, as I have completely fallen for them and have invented a crafty way to hold onto them myself while waiting for another home to come along :p
Apologies to anybody who was interested, but I will have more available to go to good homes later in the year.
I will keep you all posted on what I expect and roughly when they will be ready to go.
You may even see offspring of these two some time in the future, as they are such lovely specimens that I am considering adding them to my breeding lines ;)

I will also keep in contact with those who expressed definite interest to possibly make arrangements for the future.
Have sent you a PM old boy.
