    Hey,
I am thinking of going wireless with my VOIP setup. I saw these "Hitachi WIP3000 Wireless IP Phone" - (229.99 at digidave.ie)
and was wondering has anybody tried these phones or similar for VOIP in a SOHO environment - should I go for DECT and ATA instead?. What is call quality like - what is range like - will I get more features with the SIP phone or DECT - do they work well with Asterisk ???

UT Starcom have a good range of WIFI voip phones. If you are going to have good wireless coverage throughout your building i'd recommend WIFI IP Phones.

We have 2 of them and they work a treat.

And you could also shell out a little more and get a Pocket PC with wifi and run a VOIP client (like SJ Phone). You'd get a lot more bang for buck with that.

havent used the new linksys one's yet, but the ut starcom's are the best of the lot so far, they work well as long as you have good wifi coverage.

Does anyone know if there is any problem with the voice going from one repeater to another.

the phone itself has some issues (regularly reports out of memory when sitting idle) but the wifi voip client works well, it fairly kills the battery (as expected) range is average but it is a small device, in all honesty it's wifi reception is on a par with windows mobile devices. The push client for exchange works, bust is very basic!! no global address list, blackberry client works fine. Id say this is a few firmwares away from being finished.

Would you recommend the E 61 or have you used it. I take the comments about the firmware, always a problem for the early adapter.
