Syria - ftw! Orrr east Europe. If not then the nordics. If thats too cold/spensive then Italy (florence/naples/rome/milan/cetara) - failing all that austrailia.

I may be biased but I want to go back and do the west coast of scotland, now I've got the dslr. I also can't wait to get across to the west coast of ireland, donegal was very impressive.

A little further afield though, I would love to go to one of those medieval villages in that hilly vineyard country in the south of france, with those sun drenched narrow cobbled streets...aah...

How about some example pics to show what it is that you like about these places? Linky linky people... go on... you know you want to. I wonder if trekearth would be useful for this?

    Ah, a new recruit...

It could even have been shot on the west coast as well I think. Take a quick look at colin prior's stuff.

Not sure if this will work, but there's a picture taken pretty near Lochinver where my brother lives: Inverpolly Nature Reserve

That guy produces a lot of gorgeous landscapes. They might be a little cheesy but I wouldn't complain if I was to come home with something like that on the CF card...

I thought the German countryside was fantastic especially in the Bavarian region, absolutely breathtaking.:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 710 ✭✭✭Dundhoone

Rome!!!! So much beautiful architecture/sculpture/very trendy people!!!

I wish I'd had a camera at the time!

On the travelling wishlist would have to be Fjords in Norway for the ultimate in landscapes, Cuba for cars and that sun faded paint on the buildings, Tokyo for crazy nightshots and someplace jungley, maybe peru or similar for em, jungeley shots

Tough one this but I'll give it a go, in no particular order.....
    Mozambique
    Nepal (Himalayas in general)
    European Alps
    Malawi
    Jordan

Of course Ireland will always be up there but I'd really love to get into the desert mountains in southern Libya and Algeria and parts of western China. I'll just have to start saving :)

    1. Brittany
    2. Algarve
    3. Provence
    4. Maldives
    5. Yosemite National Park

I want to take the new camera to Brittany and Provence. When I went to Provence for the first time, me and the light down there had a bad experience. I've a load of slightly over exposed photographs of Roman ruins....

Ansel Adams was the first serious photographer I really took any notice of. I love his stuff, hence Yosemite although I've no real nyah to go the States. As for the Maldives, it's that beach thing I've got going.

    1. Nothern Finland (year 2010/2011 for Northern Lights 10 year peak):)
    2. Russia (Main Cities and some old nuclear power plants)
    3. Italian Cities (Rome, Milan, Verona etc..)
    4. Central USA (Oklahoma for a glimpse of a Tornado )
    5. Thailand (Crazy place)

I have seen the Northern Lights in Finland this year
but only the "green" ones which are the most common.
I want to see some crazy reds and blues.
I hope to have a good DSLR and a 10-22mm sigma for the show.

: p I'm just back a week from a little town about an hour from Marseille. I don't know if it's medieval, but there were a lot of narrow cobbled streets, and it was rather beautiful.

Into rock climbing/mountaineering too, and you're right about Latvia, it's got one of the most beautiful cities I've ever visited in Riga. Absolutely gorgeous in the mid-winter. Not to mention the high percentage of easy on the eye ladies over there :D

The whole reason I got into photography was on a trip to South America and due to the influence of very talented overland truck driver who loved taking landscapes ... while he drove 24 of us on a 15,000KM trip of a life time through Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, I learned a lot from him ...

Prior to this trip I had travelled extensively through Asia, Australia, North America, Europe and Africa ... but never with as evolved an interest in photography as I have now ... (though I always liked taking pictures) ...

There are so many wonderful locations ... and now I am more interested in photography I will have to vist many places again ... so I am going to cheat a little and name two categories for my top five ...

So for Nature my list draws heavily on the influences of the Sth America trip -

    1. Iguassu Falls, Argentina / Brazil border
    2. The Atacama Desert, Northern Chile
    3. Patagonia, Argentina / Chile (in particular Torres Del Paine National Park)
    4. The Antarctic
    5. The Grand Canyon, Arizona in particular the North Rim in September after the park officially closes for winter and in early snows (very few tourists around)

    For man made sights -
    1. Ancient Egyptian ruins around Luxor amd Aswan, Egypt (in some ways this is the original holiday destination).
    2. New York
    3. European Cities (cheating alittle ... I know but I each has its own unique charm...) Rome, Stockholm, London, Paris, Dublin, Prague, Budapest
    4. Las Vegas, Nevada
    5. Petra, Jordan

I was in the US southwest and the desert is a very, very beautiful place at dawn and dusk - I've been meaning to get more photos from our to Red Rock online. There's feck all to see during the middle of the day unless you're after interesting optical effects that warp your perspective of distances (see here)

The Sierra Nevadas are fantastically beautiful, again depending on location and time of day and San Diego is an awesome city, day or night, rain, hail or shine. I'll be moving to San Diego hopefully early next year after I move to the US (no you can't crash with me :p)
