Import restrictions on shoes?

I bought a pair of Crocs shoes on Ebay, (Crocs are a type of foam sandal that are light and comfortable)
However after winning the auction and paying immediately for them, I got an email today from the seller saying that according to the USPS ireland has import restrictions on a few things and I quote from the USPS website:

The following goods are subject to quota restrictions and require an import license: boots and shoes, brushes, electric lamp bulbs, screws, tapered thread; felt hats and caps for women and girls; brushes and mops; wheaten flour and any commodity or product of wheat; rubber proofed wearing apparel; sparking plugs and component parts; silk and artificial silk hose; and certain woven fabrics.

Is this still in force or have the USPS just got some old old information from an post or P&T as they were when this stuff was written?
I have brought many pairs of shoes from the US and never had a problem up to now.
What is the story, anyone know?

At worst, i'd guess it's something that has remained part of legislation so they can cover themselves if somebody is importing footwear in bulk.

I've certainly heard that importing footwear into Italy from outside the EU is tricky..... USPS may simply be assuming that it's like that for the entire Euro Zone.

    You shouldn't have any problem.
