Has anybody been approached by the dept of environment about this directive? More to the point, has anybody found any info relating to it on any of the governemnt websites? I trawled thorugh environ.ie and found nothing that was put up wihtin the past two years.

I got a shock earlier today when I heard the max fine for violation of this directive is €15,000,000 (yep, fifteen million), but IMO, the government hasnt really done much to make companies aware of their obligations under this, and what could be the potential stumbling blocks for small companies.

Anyone know where I can get some impartial advice on this? (EPA seem to be very much "we're the EPA and we know you're making the enquiry so we're gonna come down on you like a ton of bricks and then eat your children") No offense to EPA people obviously, but I'm a bit worried about violating EU directives that until now I've never even heard of before!! It could have implications for my job i think, and I dont know where to turn.
    thanks.

I was just looking up some stuff on Radionics, and I notice that they have a RoHS centre with a pointer to a Legislation Guide (that doesn't seem to be available at the moment).

It might be somewhere to get started.

My understanding of a Directive is it has no real standing untill it is adopted into law by each country. Look at the Nitrates Directive.

It doesnt sound like it has been adopted into Irish Law yet...............
