Buying Rugby Tickets

    Hi everyone,

    I hope someone can help.

    My father has been a life-long lover of Rugby.... but hasn't been able to play it for quite a few years now.
    I just thought recently that as a Birthday present for him it'd be great to take him to an Ireland match.

    Could anyone tell me how I can go about finding and buying tickets to an Ireland Rugby match?
    When are Ireland playing at home again?

    Any help is appreciated greatly.

    Daryl

    Fixtures confirmed are V South Africa on November 11th and Pacific Islands on 26th November. You have to buy tickets for both together, which means that it shouldn't be any trouble picking up tickets from people who to to the SA game but don't want to go to the PI game.
    Ireland play Australia on 19th November.

    Link to details: http://www.irishrugby.ie/htmlpage/62442.html

    If you want to register your details for tickets, you can follow the link on that page to join the supporters' club.

    As for tickets for 6N, generally you need to be a member of a club or have club contacts to get tickets as tickets are distributed via the clubs.

    Welcome to Boards btw.

    Best chance is to join the IRFU's Supporters Club. . they do ballots for tickets (for some games when they have spares like Ire vs Italy at home) they put them on sale to members 1 day before general sale.

    I managed to get my hands on tickets last season thru the club.

    www.irishrugby.ie (EUR 50 a year - a bargain!)

    Or join a club - even if your not playing, you can still support/help them out, although sadly even being in a club doesnt guarantee you tickets these days :mad:

    Should be a lot easier to get tickets when the games are on in Croke Park?

    err a little bit, but it won't guarantee tickets for all. . .

    Theres a lot of people in the club scene (and supporters of the 4 provinces) that are missing out at the moment - they may be accomodated with some extra tickets. Don't expect to see ticketmaster selling tickets to 6 Nations games in the foreseeable future!!!!

    I suspect the Corporate sector will get a lot of the extra tickets. . .. their money pays the bills and all that :mad:

    You say it should be easy to get a ticket for the PI game from someone..... where/when/how can I find people with tickets who don't want them?

    Thanks for all the replies so far!! :)

    Post here around the time of the Autumn International Series and say you're looking. I'm sure they'll show up for you.

    Worth posting on ScrumV on the BBC Rugby site too.

    In my experience when a Union ties the tickets for a big game with a minor game, it's inevitible that the ticket for the minor game will be offloaded!

    Pluse I don't imagine that S.A. fans would be made buy two tickets, so there must be spare floating for the P.I. game.

    Just don't buy from touts or scalpers.

    Keep an eye on irishrugby.ie - this is from their site (or you could get yourself a Leinster season ticket, they are doing ballots for International tickets and youll see some good rugby in 06-07!)

    Ireland will play their last three internationals at the old Lansdowne Road against South Africa, Australia and the Pacific Islands in November.

    These will be the last games at Lansdowne before redevelopment commences in 2007, so it will be your last chance to bid farewell to the old Dublin 4 stadium.

    The autumn internationals schedule is as follows:

    IRELAND v SOUTH AFRICA, Saturday, November 11 (kick-off 5.00pm)

    IRELAND v AUSTRALIA, Sunday, November 19 (kick-off 4.00pm)

    IRELAND v PACIFIC ISLANDS, Sunday, November 26 (kick-off 2.45pm)

    Tickets for South Africa and Pacific Islands will be linked; a person who wishes to purchase a ticket (stand, terrace or schools) for the South African game must purchase the same ticket for the Pacific Islands game; the Pacific Island tickets are at a reduced price. Tickets for Ireland v Australia are not linked to any game.

    Tickets for the autumn internationals against South Africa, Australia and Pacific Islands will be firstly distributed through the provincial branches who will then distribute through the rugby clubs in Ireland. The visiting Unions will also receive an allocation of tickets for their own game which they will distribute directly to their supporters. Should any tickets be returned from the clubs they will be available on www.IrishRugby.ie through the Supporters Club. Please keep logged on for up to date information on availability of tickets.

    **Combined ticket price for Ireland v South Africa - November 11, 2006 (5.00pm) and Ireland v Pacific Islands - November 26, 2006 (2.45pm)**

    Top Price Stand - €105.00;

    North Terrace - €35.00;
    South Bucket Seats - €85.00;
    Schools Bucket Seats - €30.00.

    **Ireland v Australia - November 19, 2006 (4.00pm)**

    I suspected as much. Hopefully I can grab some tickets for the NT/ET ...everyone knows standing is more conducive to yelling support/abuse.

    Don't know where you are Daryl, but dont forget there's alot of excellent Celtic league/Heineken Cup clashes coming up next season, and if your dad is a keen rugby supporter he'll get as much of a kick out of those games as an international..I know I do. Tickets for Heineken cup games, especially pool games are generally relatively easy to come by (some munster games excepted). Maybe that's an avenue worth exploring?
