    Hi

I am considering buying an lcd tv from overseas. Does anyone have any experience of this? Do the tvs from abroad recieve RTE automatically? Also what is your experience in terms of buying on Ebay, VAT and customs charges, buying from UK as opposed to say, Hong Kong?

    Thanks

    C

It would be best to ask about what signal it can recieve in this forum:

Make sure it's not one of those 'Too good to be true' type of things becasue usually it is.

If you can. pay by Paypal, from your credit card. not from the account balance. so that you have as much protection as possible.

Unless they have stunning feedback, don't pay them by any method that isn't
    credit card related.

You'll definately be charged 'Duty' on the TV including vat on the postage. plus a 'handling fee' (no that's not included in the shipping cost for some reason  )

I'd suggest you try to avoid using the postal service if you can. Avoid UPS like the *plague*. DHL and Fex Ex i've had no problems with.

yeah, 99% of items from hong kong/taiwan are scams

also, check who the seller's feedback is from

even if u pay with a ccard tru Paypal, ur not guaranteed a refund

I wouldnt advise getting something as big as an LCD telly from overseas, think of the shipping cost and customs will hit you big time and if you have to return it or whatever, big hassles!

I bought an 32" lcd tv from http://www.digiuk.com. I can recommend them highly - I ordered the tv on Thur. evening and received same on Mon. morning > delivery from UK was £15.
