It seems that the status bar is now on the actual image window rather than the app window and I can't find out where to switch it off... anyone know?

Oh, and while I'm here, any ideas why ctrl+alt+z no longer does a step backwards? It used to work :(

Edit menu -> Keyboard Shortcuts and re-map ctrl + alt + del to Step Backward (under Edit)

As for the other, provide a screenshot (and the exact version number of photoshop cs2)?

You could try Reseting: Windows -> Workspace -> ...

Why thank you, for you prompt reply ;)

And I've attached a screenshot, too...

So what exactly is wrong with the ringed area in the photo you've shown? Don't see anything wrong with that...

I used to just have the scroll bar, and if I was viewing it full size there would just be the window handle and that was it. I don't want to know how big the file is... if I do want to know, I'll look in the properties ;)

My monitor space is at a premium, and I'm a minimalist kind of girl.

Click the > beside it and choose what you want shown there. It's normal. It's not taking up extra space. oO

Otherwise, reset to or minimalist workspace and try reset menus if needed.

I don't want anything shown there... I want a full width scroll bar, or a plain window handle, like I had in CS. It's taking up space, and it's distracting :( Maybe I'm just too fussy.

I think that that's normal, have you just upgraded to CS2?

yep. I was hoping it was optional.

you get used to it, anyway you shouldn't need the scroll bars really, just hold the space bar to quickly switch to the hand tool. then click and drag your image

thanks,it's basically the fact that the effects you guys talk about ,
I can't find any of them on the photoshop elements i have.
One been the effect you were telling me about ,unsharp mask (i think).

Is this because it's elements ,or is there a special menu or something.

    Thanks.

I think in elements you don't have curves, or possibly even levels. USM is found in the filters menu, under 'sharpen' if it's going to be anywhere. But I thought you had CS2?

could only afford elements ,god knows how much for cs2 .
I'll have a look for usm and the levels and stuff, I really only bought elements for opening raw and cropping etc. But now it's different.

    Thanks,
    Brian.

GIMP is a good but more importantly free alternative to Photoshop

I'm sorry but I have no idea where to find anything in PS Elements anymore. I haven't used it in years.

Google will help to some extent:

Thanks for all that ,I found unsharp mask elven.
I think elements is grand as long as there is not too much missing.
I'm still getting through the books on exposure and lighting ,I can't believe I understand what they are talking about so easily.
I'm hoping I can start using photoshop along with the books.

    Brian.
