Why not contact them to have the problem rectified, its their problem. BTW what is that file?

Do you know what contention ratio you're meant to be getting? If it's anything less than 25:1, then you should follow up. If not, and it's unlikely to be, then you won't have much of a case, except maybe to pressure them to get more backhaul. Assuming that contention is the problem, that is, and not a dodgy LoS or something like that.

The file is a FreeBSD ISO image on ESat's mirror.

Im with lastmile aswell upgraded my connection recently to the 1m/512k believing it would make a difference and lo-and-behold its as crap as ever. The company is a bit of a shambles i.e. customer service is just pathetic. As for the contention ratio its as if everyone is on the one lol:rolleyes:

I would call that contention. But if your connection drops about 10 times a day that could be a more serious problem. Best to contact technical about it and get an engineer out.

I heard that lastmile only have 10mbit of pipe to share between all their customers.

Smells like a crowd of GBS milkers.
I have some personal experience with them, and reckon this to be the case.

Why not complain to comreg. say youre not getting broadband.
broadband is defined at *something higher than what youre on. probably 256k*
Then say that you don't think the government should be funding them to provide you with shítty service. If a few people were to do this, comreg would have to follow it up with a call to lastmile at the very least.

Any threat of losing their GBS cash will slap them back into shape, sharpish.

Ya. I'll do that. They a rip off. I heard they only set up to supply schools with govt funding, didnt plan ahead. They supplying all the schools round here.

My connection is very reliable but I'm only a few hundred meters from the mast, if you are far away the connection will be affected by weather conditions. You might also be unfortunate enough to be connected to a relay node thats relaying traffic from other nodes .. that could get congested.

If you find that its affected by weather they can add a parabolic antenna but you'd probably have to pay for that,
