i want to be able to take an s-video + stereo audio output ( from my av receiver ) and somehow route it into my network ( cat 5 and wireless ) so that i can receive the output ( tv/dvd/sky+ etc) wirelessly on my laptop - anyone know how to do this ?

if it cant be done that way then i would settle for routing the rf into the network via a tv card in my main desktop pc or something like that.

    thanks in advance

edit - i also am putting all my music on one of those wireless network drives so that it's available all the time without the main pc being on so it would be even better if there was a solution that included both jobs in the one

Dixons in the UK are selling the Slingbox which should do it, not sure if its available in Ireland though.

Get a hold of vlc from

    http://www.videolan.org/

this can accept nearly any format video from nearly any source and transcode it down to a small enough rate to transmit over 802.11b (802.11g would be much better).

It even has a web interface, so you can change channels with the right capture card.
