Cancelled tickets and scanning at Oxegen!

I can really see this happening at oxegen this year...especially with the huge amount of tickets that are on sale on ebay and BandS,tonnes more than usual(thus the relativly low prices they are going for)

Last year I bought the tickets in buy and sell, went up to the gate, monkey scanned them, machine beeped and it came up the tickets had been purchased with a stolen credit card. So we were held in a room by security waiting for the gards!tey never arrived,we begged the monkey men to let us in and the only way they would was if we paid them the 160euro in cash into their pockets...bastards. So not only did i pay an over the odds price for the ticket but i had to pay an extra 160 at the gate.

So i always say to people buying a ticket off ebay and buy and sell to only buy one that has originally been purchased with cash(its written on the stub) as this cant be a lost in post or stolen cc job. Or eslse go to the sellers house, as a dodgy seller wont want you going to their house cos you woulkd come back and deck them afterwards.

There is going to be a hell of a lot of disappointed people turining up this year and getting refused.....its the reason there are so many tickets still for sale on ebay etc......because id say most of them are cancelled tickets.

Ah thats so **** you had to pay them 160 cash. I'd say most people would of done the same but its still lousy.

the tickets were only sent out by ticketmaster about a month ago so I guess touts on ebay, buyandsell etc are doing there best to sell them before they are stook with them. There doesnt seem to be much demand for the tickets either due to all the other festivals.

Cant wait for it myself, not looking forward to dealing with the security staff. Make sure you get your ticket stub back of them too. They have a habit of going out to the carpark and reselling them......

They are some cowboys alright, did anyone see th seperate queue they had formed for people with no tickets and looking to bribe there way in. A couple of lads i know went up with e150 in cash and got their bracelet for the weekend, i will imagine they will have the same thing happening this year. The boys must make a FORTUNE

come on, there's hardly that many tickets taht will be cancelled,

I presume there's so many tickets on ebay simply because people bought them early to make a quick profit knowing that the festival would sell out.

More fool you for paying the extra 160 - should have called it a 160 loss and gone home.

Hope the concert was worth 320 euro

Would someone be so kind as to scan thier ticket in so I can get a look at it, are they suppose to have a little star punched out of them?

No one's gonna scan one in, everyone's afraid of the barcode being copied!

And yours has a star cut out cos you got a parking pass with yours

The star is put in the tickets by ticketmaster when sombody brings in 4 tickets to get a free parking ticket. Its nothing to worry about. Just means the ticket cant be used again to get a free parking ticket.

Ahh right, was just wondering about that little star. Whats the chances of getting a ticket bought using a stolen card, only Im buying a ticket tomorrow. Theres no way of finding out until I get there is there?

Very little chance but there's always a risk buying from an unknown/untracable source.

If I went into ticketmaster with my ticket would they be able to tell me if its ok or not?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 92 ✭✭ballinasloe

I called them about this and they said they couldn't verify a ticket until the day and they have their scanners.

I suppose the rule is to only buy your ticket from a tracable source (e.g. an ebay member with plenty of positive feedback and a paypal account)

    Just buy them off ticketmaster.

As predicted by many they have gone back on sale, all types of tickets.

What are you talking about "tested"? Scanners have been used for well over a year now. As the original poster pointed out the system was in place at the last Oxegen.

I was thinking of buying a ticket from someone of advets.ie in town , have seen some camping weekends going for a €100.

1.) How do I spot a fake and not get ripped off ?
2.) I presume I can use the camping ticket and not camp ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,834 ✭✭✭Toast

1.) see if the boards account is relatively well posted with. 1s or 2s be warry of. The issue isnt so much fakes but ones bought with stolen cards which may have since been cancelled.

    2.)Yes

    Off you go.

    2 points.

1.) you would get a better audience in the for sale section.
2.) Posting your phone number isnt wise.

edit : point 3 - these tickets are going for less than face value at the moment , as low as 100e for a weekend camping.
