Well, I failed 2 this semester, one I was expecting but the other was a bit of a surprise. I was just 4 % short in spanish. How do I go about getting it checked? also in 1st semester, for one of my exams I got an X meaning I failed an exam element. I never found out which part that was because the lecturer left after the 1st semester. Any way I can check this too?
    Thanks.

Regarding Spanish, if you want to get it checked you need to ring or email your lecturer and make an appointment to see them. Once you have this done you have a week or two to go seem them and get it sorted. I'd recommend you do this asap to be honest.

The X means you failed the end of semester exam itself. If this is the case then you'll have to repeat it as if you were compensated overall then this grade would have switched to a C meaning Pass By Compensation.

Hope that clears some stuff up for you.

That clears up most of the question, thanks a lot. The marks for the first semester exam was for both an essay and the written exam itself. Is there anyway I could find out how many marks I got for Each?

I just to pass this module in 1st year them im dropping it to concentrate on Japanese and its doing my head in!

Still not sure what an X means...does it mean I failed the exam and can I repeat in August?

It means that you passed any incourse tests but failed the written paper on the day.

Indeed, X means you failed the Written Exam at the end of the semester, its the one thing you can repeat. W means you failed some part of your Continuous Assessment and repeating that depends on the module in question. If you ever have any problems never hesitate to give your lecturer a ring, they're always in the position to give the best advice. :)

Speak to them about the fact that you're dropping that module. I failed a module I was dropping (well, failed one that we had to do in the common first year and then, in the course I chose to go into from that, we didn't do)

Chances are, when you repeat, they'll be a bit more lenient since it doesn't really matter if you pass it or not...

I'm not saying that they're gonna pass you straight off but they'd be more inclined to bump you up from 35% to 40% or something if you did relatively alright in the repeat

It turns out that I just failed the Oral test in the second semester so I dont have to repeat the written exam. I know I have to send in the form to register for the written repeats but whats the story with incourse exams? I cant see it on the site. Maybe I missed it but some help would be welcome.
