Yes, well I see it used in a gaim patch I have here.

Should this yes/no question be a simple poll or were you looking for specific information that is not in the manpage or in google.groups.com? :p

You can use iconv to convert say a text file/email from one character set to another. I am just wondering has anyone ever tried setting characters for Russian ISO-8859/5 (Cyrillic),

Please describe what you are trying to do and what issues you are having. It's painful trying to help someone who trickles the info out.
It's considerably quicker to try the thing and then come looking for help if it fails.

got it sorted..apologies for late feedback. Looked at the library files for iconv and figured it out. I am grabbing an email from a russian user, and converting it from cyrillic to UTF..unicode... so that the customer gets it correctly as its travelling through a europeen system, so we have to handle the translation manually. Move the mail to a file, figure out if its russian, and then convert file. then dump file to mailx...its working.......
