condensor boiler probelms

Have recently installed a Grant condensor boiler with underfloor heating and fueled by oil. Had a Heath-Robinson type setup at first when I was waiting for the sparky to come. I had to turn the whole system off and on from the mains and it would kick in and heat underfloor and hot water. Obviously wasn't very practical but worked fine. The electrician arrived and installed Horstmann H37 XL series 2 three channel programmer with one being underfloor heating, 2 being radiators upstairs and 3 being the hot water. He also fitted a thermostat.

My problem is that it has not worked properly since he installed the programmer. The heating doesn't kick in when the thermostat is turned up and the hot water doesn't come on if you select it on the programmer. I usually have to select everything and then turn them off leaving only the hot water on to make the boiler kick in.

Sometimes the boiler kicks in even if everything is turned off on the programmer. I'm waiting for the sparky and the plumber to come out and check it all out but in the meantime does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? I suspect it's an electrical issue but wiring is not my strong point.... I'm hoping it's something straightforward that I've missed.

I'm afraid I can't help with your boiler troubles but I am also looking at getting a 'Grant' condenser boiler [36KW] for my UFH. I did'nt see many condensing oil boilers around and see the 'grant' model on the internet. Do you mind telling me where you sourced yours from and output / cost?

    Hi,

It was included in the cost from my plumber - I'll have to look at the breakdown of costs to let you know how much it was.....

Either the programmer is faulty or it is wired wrong.
If you are troubleshooting it just remember it is just a series of switches.

Theres a good chance the wiring on the zone valve is wrong .
When the valve shuts a certain way ,certain cables then become live to send power to somewhere else .A bit like a railway junction.
