Anyone hear the Skype love in on yesterday evenings Last Word by Ciara O'Brien. Ciara expertly advised that to run VoIP, you require a broadband PC/Laptop with a microphone or headset. I'll throw my phone and router in the bin when I get home this evening.

I'd imagine she ment to use only Skype VoIP you require a PC/Laptop etc (although USB phone works too), otherwise she must be right and I'm going to have to bin my Linksys PAP2 VoIP/RT31P2 and phone and go back to my USB headset

My world is just turned upside down now ;)

[EDIT] For anyone that wish's you can download a recording of the full show by getting all three files:

The segment on Skype starts at 21 minutes, 20 seconds into the last segment, for anyone that's interested.

Edit: Now it's the last segment :)

...and because I posted them in the wrong order, http://www.radioireland.ie/lastword/2862006-18.wmv is the file in question :)

Just listened to the segment, the way she discribes VoIP it sounds like the only VoIP services are VoIP provided by Eircom and Smart for Business customers and Skype and thats it......such a shame that the only mention of any Irish VoIP provider for home users was from someone txt'ing in mentioning blueface.

She missed a good opporunity to promote 076 numbers within Ireland with regards to VoIP etc, imho if anything she makes VoIP out to be very expensive and its only Matt that says its alot cheaper.

Would be nice if they do a segment on it in future with a more positive swing :)
