Personal enjoyment only, although I have been paid for a couple of jobs in the past.

I make some money but not enough to give up the day job - so voted for personal.

Personal enjoyment... but if I *could* do it for a living, I totally would.

Only started recently, so it’s all personal. If someone wanted to buy one of my photos'?, prob the highest compliment I could receive.

But i thought you can apply to the Promotors if ur on assignment for a paper/mag or sumthin.......?

Yeah, there's an alright article on www.photo.net about it if I remember correctly!

One of my best friends is a music promoter. Not often he gets big bands, but when he does, I'm first up.

Plenty of other friends of mine are musicians, they ask me to shoot a gig, another band there asks me to shoot'em too...Word travels on! You get random Emails asking you to shoot! Get yourself a Myspace account too, it's pretty handy for music networking!

Not if you know the band ;)
Promoters are hard to work with better to be shooting for the band than them.
Dont just go for the big ones, start with the small gigs, that way youll be known. Do it for free at first, get your name known as bring decent. Be nice to the right people ;)

Yeah those trains of gigs leading to other gigs rock when they happen!

    Without a doubt!

As Master said, start free. Be careful not to undersell yourself though, or you'll be looked at forever as a "Cheap Fella"...Which if you want shiny new lenses and fully legal versions of CS2, just won't work! :)

Yeah thats the hard part, but try work out who to ask for cash and who to do for free (10 more gigs is more important than getting paid for the first ;))
