People who never read the DaVinci Code's opinion of the film?

after viewing this movie which was critically panned and tbh slated by all the people i know who went to see it at the cinema(all of whom had read the book and were big fans) i was left wondering how other people like myself, who had never read Dan Brown litererary critic and public pleasing book responded to the film.

honestly i am still undecieded as to how good it was because having not read the book there is obviously a lot to take in. However i still believe as i did when i first heard it was to be adapted for the silverscreen (at which time i had intended to read the book but had not found the time). That this movies major undoing would be the very fact that the book had reached a wider audience than almost any other book in production. It is my belief that although i still find myself undecided on how good this film was that if i was to show it to my kids in 20yrs time who had prehaps never read or even heard of Dan Brown's best seller that they would be astounded by this movie and the great story it tells, and that this movie could prehaps get the same reaction that the book originally got upon it's release.

So anyone else who has prehaps only seen the film i would be interested on whether you believe there is any validity to what i am suggesting or do any of you agree with the critics on this one?

It was only okay for me, didnt read the book. Normally after a good film Im full of chat and talking about all the different characters and how they could have made it better and so on. The car was quiet on the way home. Nothing stood out for me or made me remember it. :)

From what I've heard, if you've read the book, you'll hate the movie, and also there's a different ending.

I never read the book (I'm not a reader) and the film was the worst I had seen in over two years at least. Certainly the worst I had seen in the cinema in two years (except for Man Of The House :p).

It was just so bad with so many problems. And I wanted it to be good, I really did. I loved the actors, I like Ron Howard's work and if I'm going to see a film I'm gonna want it to be worth my while. But it just sucked.

I thought it was good and I've never read the book.

I can only imagine having read the book, it'd be a bit of a borefest, knowing everything that essentially happens generally more or less.

Had I known what the film was about and what the storyline was, twists and all, I no doubt would have disliked it intensely.

I think your definately better off not have read the book. I think people will think it's alot better film when they rent it out in a couple of years time.

I have read the book and on the strength of that I am not in a hurry to see the film. I couldnt believe people recommended that drivel.

Morlar, you speak such wise words.

I'm cheating a little cause I've read the book and I can say without a doubt that the movie is an EXACT re-telling of the book. Almost page for page. But that's not a good recommendation lest you guys get the wrong idea. The book was nonsense with a riduclous plot and characters that appear to have been written by a 3 year old.

Apparently Ron Howard hired that same 3 year old to write the script to the movie. If this movie becomes a classic after ANY spell of time then I will weep.

Yeah, definately the worst film I've seen this year, I went to see what all the fuss was about not having read the book.
I know none of it is true but thats not why I didn't like it, it was just boring
