I've read that tinned mackarel has just as many omega 3 fatty acids as the fresh stuff. Is it really true?

Where is the best place to store it -fridge or pantry?

If it is tinned (and unopened) it can be stored outside the fridge. And while I don't know if it has "just as much", tinned mackeral has good levels of omega 3
