    wel,
I was looking at the Gainward GeForce 7900GT 256MB GDDR3 on komplett but i think its gone cos they've taken down the price off it. Now i'm stuck!

Any ideas for a good card? (nothing extravagent but something that will play the latest games and still play them pretty good in a year's time) I'm thinkin sub €350 but mite be able to stretch it a bit. Must have DVI output

    Thanks
    Pa

Why don't you get the same card from a different company? Was it cheap at Komplett?

It was 313 but I also want to double check that it was a good card in the first place and that there wasn't another card on the market which would out perform it

This page is worth a read :

IMHO a 7900GT will be just fine for playing the latest games for at least a couple (not considering how Vista and DX10 will/might change things).

You can get the Club3D 7900GT for €309 at Komplett - it's a very good card for price/performance.

Im not impressed with the Club brand at all!

I bought a 6600 256MB over a year ago and the bloody fans is a pile of crap.....must oil it on a regular baisis or it creaks/becomes NOISY....strangely though it has stopped making noises since the weather got better!

That Gainward had the nice big and slow RPM fan y/n?
It appears they are making way for the 512MB version and trying to get their moneys worth before DirectX10 is forced upon us by the release of Vista.

Relax until DirectX10 comes along as it will be far more beneficial to your pocket in the long run!

It's a stock fan that's the same of a bazillon other 7900GT's all Club3D and many others do is slap a sticker on it - that's it.

The only Gainward 7900GT left on Komplett is a custom unit with it's own unique cooler, red PCB & 512MB RAM but at a much higher cost of €471.

Playing the waiting game is a balancing act DX9 isn't going anywhere for a long time but the first DX10 GPU's wont be here till November and they wont be cheap either as it will be the flagship variety.
