Tri-Nations 2007

I looked up the fixture list for this year's 3N and saw that each team now has 3 home games - 9 matches in all.

When was this announced ?
What's the rationale, apart from more ticket revenue ?

It will suit the ABs, what with their strength in depth.

I'll be interested to see the Tri-Nations results this year, as each country has their own questions to answer.

Apparently it is to do with next years World Cup - only 2 of the games go towards the Tri nations AFAIK (the last two)

daveirl hits the nail on the head, it's purely a money making exercise on the part of SANZAR. Increases their revenue while neatly sidestepping the Pacific Islands/Argentina issue by ensuring the fixture list is fully subscribed. Cynical AND venal, dont know what that is in latin but it should be the SANZAR motto...

I remember a couple of years ago talk of the Boks playing in the six nations, but that seems to have faded out of the picture. Never happen but might give them some negotiating leverage if they threaten to throw their toys out of the pram
