I'd be very, very surprised if this exists.

It's possible to do it with MP3's that come with the lyrics pre-encoded but I can't see how it would be possible with a CD.

What are you looking for, something to put the lyrics as text on screen, or something to remove the singer from the track?

There is DIY Karoeke software available alright.
But i think it just plays the song and maybe beforehand u plug in the lyrics manually and have a text box onscreen while the song is played.

There is a load of software out there that will try to suppress the vocal track in a song, they can have varying degrees of success and often end up sounding like you've chucked your speakers in a swimming pool...

I've never heard of software to suppress everything but the vocals, but that doesn't mean that it isn't out there.

Yep there is. Evil lyrics is the name of the program. Its a plugin for win amp I think. But I use it in mediamonkey

Google for it! If you want it to work on your tv then your gonna need a tv out jack on your graphics card

err, sorry. When you said 'lift the lyrics' I understood that you wanted to extract the lyrics to do something else where them (i.e. display them on-screen).

I'd suggest "Vogone" and you can download a demo from their site. It all depends on if you want something professional or just a winamp plugin that will work but not as well as a commerical product.

Should be possible alright. Human voice are at another frequency?
One time i had a bad connection to my speakers and all i could hear was the music and no vocals, didn't know wh at was going on!

Yeah, I have a feature with my audio Drivers, i just click Voice Cancellation and it plays the song with no voice, but its very basic, so the quality sucks and most the of the time u can here the under-tracks

Ya. Creative sound cards have that software 2. called Karaoke voice suppression. sounds crap & you still hear the vocals.
you can dl the midi files (also called karaoke files) which will play on your pc using your onboard sound or soundcard. this is prob an easier road to go down. google midi files n see what you get. most popular songs are available in midi file. they dont sound that good unless you use progs like reason & cubase that change the instruments you use with the midi files. its what djs use.

edit: just re-read thread and its 2 keep the lyrics and loose the instruments. dont know bout that. sorry.

but, if its for Karaoke they'd want the music, and NO lyrics
    Oh the confusion!

What do ya want man!? Just the music, or just the lyrics!?

sorry for the confusion folks.....lol.... basically what i wanted was a programe to take the vocals from one song and put them to music of another one, the karaoke thing threw it into confusion, dont want to do karaoke,,,,i just thought that an original cd might have layers laid down, like an 8 track, but maybe that would be only on a master ? rip the vocals from 2 songs and swap them around....... i hope that makes a bit more sense.....:D

Yes, only on the master. Software that remove the vocals do so based on the fact that the vocals are usually found around the same range (midrange) and can turn these frequencies down to drown out the vocals. But I don't know about being able to lift these vocals and put them on a new recording...

dont think its possible without master.
