Has anyone got one ? Was looking at the Dell outlet store but it's not so great these days!

Looking at getting the barebones unit. Anyone had much experience with them ? I've been on a laptop for last few years. Pain in the ass :)

If you're talking about the prebuilt PC's then I've bought 2 of them for friends cos I was feeling too lazy to build them myself.
They're well built and still working fine.
Think they give a 3 year warranty too!

I've built about 20 pc's with kits/parts from komplett, never had any trouble.

I got one built by komplette still running strong after around a year.

I don't want to build it myself as I did it for my last desktop and the ram got static fried so was useless.

Well as far as I'm concerned you can't go wrong with Komplett pc's/parts!
Try the self configurable PC's, they're great for picking and choosing each and every component!

With out hijacking DY's thread, was also wondering if Komplett's are good value. Dont do gaming on the pc and really just need a workhorse ie:internet/video-editing etc.You can get one of the dell 5150's for a shade under €700 which includes

    Base:
    Intel® Pentium® D Processor 820 with DualCore Technology (2.80GHz,800MHz fsb,2x1MB cache)

    Microsoft Operating System:
Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition, SP2

    Memory:
    2048MB Dual Channel DDR2 533MHz (2x1024) Memory

    Hard Drive:
160GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive with 8MB DataBurst™ cache

    CD/DVD Drives:
    48x/32x/48x/16x CDRW/DVD-ROM combination Drive

    AntiVirus & Security Software:
Free 36 Month McAfee Security Centre Subscription

    Microsoft Application Software:
    Microsoft® Works 7.0

Video Card:Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator

    Monitor:Dell E176FP 17" Midnight Grey (TCO99) Flat Panel Monitor

Sound Cards:Integrated Audio with Dolby Digital 7.1 capability

    Keyboard:
    Dell Entry Quietkey USB Keyboard

    Mouse:
Dell USB 2 Button Wheel Mouse

Ideally I would like to change the cd-rw/dvd-rom for a dvd-rw/dvd-rom but they want an extra €72 which I think is a bit cheeky. But all in all the fact that you get a 17in flat panel I cant seem to get any of the Komplett systems to come close to this price, am I missing something.

That does seem like a decent price.
There are a few things I would double check though.
Is the hard drive SATA2? If not then I would check how much it would be to upgrade.
You don't have a graphics card, just an integrated controller which I assume takes system memory. Even a 40 euro graphics card would generally be a vast improvement.
The monitor is Dells low spec one with a 12ms response time and a relatively low contrast ratio, and it does not have DVI, just the analogue input.
As you mention there is no DVD burner, I don't know about you but I consider them a must.

If you could build your own PC then I would definitely go with Komplett.
If not and you want SATA2, a decent graphics card, a dvd burner, and a decent spec 17-19" LCD then I'd still say that Komplett would be cheaper.

I also just checked the Dell site and if you hit "customize and buy" on the 5150 it appears that the spec you just listed actually costs €856.

You can only get it for €699 if you get rid of the "3-Year Basic: At Home On-site service " and replace it with the "No service upgrade selected - 1-Year Collect and Return service only"

FYI - The Komplett PC's come with a 3 year return to base warranty.

Very true Conar about the three year thingy but have never realy had anything go since I started building pc's. Will look at Komplett again but by the time you had on a monitor €250 thats what usually pushes it over the edge
