Im trying to watch movies and video playing on my pc on a 32" lcd flat screen.

I have my NVidia GeForce 7800 GX connected to the monitor via an svideo cable.

The desktop and all comes up fine its just when I open video in windows media player or winamp or power dvd the video itself does not show up on the tv.

I tried opeing the video with Virtual Dub as if I was editinf it and the picture comes up on the tv fine.

Whats the problem here is it the way the player displays the image, anti piracy measures in the players? Are there media players that will send the picture to the tv as it is on the pc monitor?

I presume you're trying to use both TV and monitor at the same time ?

Generally video is displayed using a thing called 'overlay' which'll only work with one display at a time. There's a couple of things you can do, one is just use a sinlge display, switching between TV and monitor as needed, my favourite and the recommended way if you want to use games on the TV aswell. Another is so set your TV as the primary display in the same place you picked your dual display modes, video should now show on the TV but not on the monitor.

I think you can use 'Clone' mode instead of Dualview and the video will show on both screens, but your monitor will be forced to use the same crappy resolution and refresh rates your TV does so this looks horrible (assuming your monitor can actually stoop that low without something breaking, most can but not worth the risk tbh). I also remember something about a 'theater mode' that allowed you send video to the TV but don't really remember much. Google might have something on it if you're interested.

One way you can do this is set up your tv so your desktop is extended onto it. Then open up wmp or winamp or whatever and drag the windowed version to your tv(assuming your in extended desktop mode) and then go fullscreen.
    It works for me anyways,

You need to either extend your desktop onto the TV and move the media player over to the TV part of the desktop or set the TV as the primary display.
