Having sangria tonight (and last night).
Just thought i would share with everyone how i make it which was explained to me quickly in Lanzarote. (probably others have recipies just as nice :D)

Let me explain something.. i DO NOT measure!!! Just go with what feels right!!
This should be enough to make 2 x 2 litre pitchers.

Bottle of CHEAP red wine!!! Again i say CHEAP!!! Such as Od bins in blanch have a load of €4 bottles.

Fill both pitchers with about equal ammounts.. then add in some orange juice lets say... a cup... then Peach schnapps and a little brandy. Also some soda or tonic water to both water it down and give a little fizz!

Do not forget the fruit of course... use fresh if you have but its easier, cheaper and just as nice to add a tin of fruit salad including the juices!!!

Anyway Sangria is great... So even if you do not intend making it... keep it in mind next time you get a bad bottle of wine.. do not throw down the sink.. make sangria!!

Well, I made Sangria while I was in Sydney, and it was a great success.

2 x Bottles of (Cheap) Red Wine
    1.5 Litres of Sprite
    1.5 Litres of Fanta
    Naggin of (Cheap) Brandy
Freshly Squeezed Juice of : 2 Limes, 2 Lemons, 2 Oranges
    Sliced Orange
    Sliced Apple
    Sliced Strawberries (about 6)
    .5 Kilo Sugar

I left this mixture overnight in the fridge, then stirred before serving.

It went very well with a Mexican meal.

I had some gorgeous champagne sangria for the first time on holiday last year - does anyone have a tried and tested recipe for that?

doubt it was actually champagne.. so just follow my recipie or close to it and instead of soda water... add in some brut!

Whilst staying in Valencia, my Spanish friends make Sangria as follows

    Cheap red wine
    white lemonade/7 up
    lemons
    ice and sugar

They mixed up these ingredients to taste. what was unusual here is the lack of any strong spirits (brandy etc) which makes it a bit more light and refreshing albeit a tad sweet.

I suppose for a "champagne" version you could use a rose Cava or similar sparkling wine.
