My epson 1290 ran out of paper and since is printing gobbledy gook constanly, I mean 1 sheet after another at just the top line of the sheet. It's gone through about twenty sheets so far. I thought I might be able to purge the documents on que but their is none. Turning it off and then back on it just resumes printing the crap. Attempting to print a page normally has no effect, any idea's, apart from throwing it out the window.

Remove the cable from the computer (whatever USB or parallel), remove drivers and software that came with it and restart. Then try installing again and see if that does anything.

Yip, saw this before - had to go into the spool directory in C:\windows\system32 (I think) and delete a load of files there. You may have to go into Safe mode first.

Edit: Just saw Ruu's post - I don't think this will do it. Try mine first, a lot less hassle.
