Two really good shots...especially the first one. Such a simple idea that worked out really well. Good use of lighting and dof.

They are both good but i prefer the second one. It has more impact.

That first one is fab. The second one doesn't do it for me quite the same, I think it's the bright oof peg in the background. But wow, that's cool - such an excellent picture from something so mundane, I love that.

Yea me too the second one is just not the same kinda look or feel... lol

    Thanks for the comments !

Great contrast dof and lighting, cant really decide which one is stronger - both really good pictures.

I like the first one, however I think it is a bit boring, perhaps taken with a film camera it may be a lot more interesting.

+1 for the first pic. I think the reason it works is that your eye is drawn smoothly through the frame, and the diagonal of the clothes line works as a strong compositional element. As elven said, the furthest peg is distracting in number 2. Nice effort.

Out of interest, why do you think using film would change anything? Grain?

nice shots DeafVision - surprised that they where taken in daylight, they look exactly as they would in total darkness with flash.

I prefer the first one, think the perspective and DOF are working well together. Also like the textures from the rope and pegs.

I'm not sure either one would fall into an abstract category though...more close ups than anything. Maybe the concept is abstract?

Yea I kinda realise its not really abstract... was the best option I had to name the thread... lol

ah there's a certain charm that goes with film, perhaps it's just me, but I find it to be far more moody and stimulating. But I love the cleanness and smoothness of digital. It's just a personal opinion.

Yeah, a nice high ISO film could create a nice grain for this.

I think it's the process that you find inspiring, it has a certain magic to it.

This last shot doesn't quite work for me, the pegs in the foreground being out of focus is just too distracting. There's a chance that if they were just a bit more in the frame, and sharp, and the back ones were also sharp, it would work pretty well though. I think the contrast of the light and dark would work well there too, but having something light and blurry in the front seems awkward.

You're making me want to go shoot some pegs. That's just wierd.
