A free Sky+ box from your new best friend offer

I got a couple of vouchers for a free Sky+ box and installation for friends in the post last week (along with a best friend badge!) It was unclear where the subscriber or their non-subscribing friend should ring so I (the subscriber) rang the number on the voucher - after 8 more phonecalls - all to the Uk - someone was able to tell me that my friend had to ring another number. He was lucky - only had to ring 3 numbers to get onto someone with a clue. Unfortunately they claimed that it was a misprint and only applies to a standard Sky box even though the front of the voucher actually has a photo of a Sky+ box and says "A free Sky+ box from your new best friend".

Anyway have emailed sky to complain - it'll be interesting to see what they have to say for themselves.

I too got this "Best Friend Badge" and 2 vouchers to give to friends for a Free SKY+ box, it's a picture of a PVR3 on the front of the voucher.

I'd would say that the offer is for a free Sky+ box as they give away standard Sky boxes anyway to new subscribers

I too got the vouchers and thought what an excellent idea. I've loads of friends with Sky who'd love to get Sky+ but this offer is useless to them it has to be a brand new customer.

If only Sky gave commission on recommending friends for Sky+ I'd be loaded.

Just to be clear - my friend has never been a sky subscriber. Still no reply from them Re my complaint.

If anyone would like to give me one of these vouchers I'd really appreciate it! If you have one to spare, you could donate it to my worthy casue. I'd really like Sky + in my new house but funds are really tight.....:D

I got one of these cards from a friend and signed up no problem (except for the fact that I was on hold for 37 minutes when I rang late one night so had to hang up and ring again the next day!). The phone number on my card is: 0818 719 817. I'm a first time subscriber and got a Sky+ for free plus Sky World for €15 for the first 3 months. I asked about Multi-room and was told that I'm still entitled to a free standard box at any stage so won't be charged if I opt for multi-room in the future. Not bad as Chorus charge €50 to connect you up at a later stage. This free Sky+ box offer expired 29th June but I'm sure it'll be back again at some stage.

The worst thing about this offer is that you get nothing for referring a friend. You used to get €30 of shopping vouchers. Why should I bother helping uncle Rupert get more victims?

Yea it seems a bit bad that the referrer gets nothing (not that the vouchers were worth much either) for doing Sky's marketing work for them.

My copy of this went straight in the bin.

I got my details in the post yesterday from Sky and they sent me a voucher which says that they will pay me €75 for each customer that I refer on to them so long as they give my account number. Needless to say the voucher arrived on the 4th July but expired on the 30th June! Maybe that's just their cute marketing stategy....oops too late!

my vouchers arrived on the 30th june, also with an expiry date of 3oth June. I didnt get home till 8pm that night and i was in no mood for talking to someone in sky. I was also not impressed that the referrer appeared not to gain from this transaction, except of course to be in your friends good books for a while
