K-tric.....does this mean you're not in the market for a series 1 GoldWing...??

    :) Nice car K-TRIC,
There good fun to drive and always get a reaction when you have them clean.
I'm on my second one now,
But it might be going soon as i bought myself 2 Ford Capri's on the weekend.

Nice car and even nicer price, hope you don't get screwed by the b***ards in the VRT. I took a 1993 Saab 900 convertible up last week and they decided it was an historic car and wanted 3300 euros in VRT! I was expecting to pay 6 or 700 euros tops. It really highlights the rip-off VRT is and even more so when the change the rulings like this.:(

not a bad price, bbs wheels must be worth half the price:rolleyes: junkyard is correct, the vrt is a risk on anything, there should be clear prices of :vrt, takeing the sting out off importing into ireland:( classic case of rip of ireland:mad:

There's a second set of plan original wheels with it and I plan to put them on before bringing it for the VRT assesment. I got an on-line quote for around 600, if they decide its a special super-duper rare model and decide to charge me 3k then I'll just sell it here.

Junkyard........you can challenge the valuation btw........ and if you trawl on the web, I'm sure you'd get some idea of no's of Saabs produced. By using high production numbers in a mass produced line, you can show it's not a classic. It's just an old car with no roof.

There is a formal appeal process.

K-Tric I have a an 84 Scirocco Storm myself and I only paid the minimum VRT on it I think it was around €330 - and my one is a 1.8. You shouldn't expect to have to pay any more than that.

Your rocco looks very nice and it seems to be in good order - its good that the fuel tank / filler neck has been replenished that can be a huge problem with these cars. These are great cars to drive and I suspect they will start appreciating rapidly as good ones are becoming thin on the ground now.

I suggest that you have a look at the www.sciroccoregister.co.uk forum (http://www.sciroccoregister.co.uk/phpbb/phpBB2/index.php) they have an excellent and friendly online Scirocco loving community and they will answer any questions that you have

    Enjoy your Scirocco :):):)

eh you cant challange the valuation until youve paid it and then they will spend 6 months putting you thru the ringer for a 10% rebate.

they have changed their rules to sting as many people buying cars with SSIA money - a complete greedy scam.

wanted well over 2K for my 86 BMW325

    That's weird...

When I look at mine all I see are saucy DVDs and a used Spiderman outfit.

I'll be collecting this on Saturday morning, can someone please tell me what documentation I need to get from this guy so I can register it in Ireland.

    Thanks
    K

Finally got this back to Dublin 12 hours later than expected. It seems the locals don't like the Irish taking their cars.

The car is in better condition than I thought , but unfortuantly I'll have to sell it as my missus thinks its too small and would like a bigger car :(

So it looks like it might be going back on ebay after I register it. Has anyone any idea of what its worth in Ireland?
