Researchers Say New Chip Breaks Speed Record

    Researchers at I.B.M. and the Georgia Institute of Technology are set to announce today that they have broken the speed record for silicon-based chips with a semiconductor that operates 250 times faster than chips commonly used today.

    That's all well and good once IBM don't do something outrageous like sign up to a binding contract with Microsoft stating that the technology will ship exclusively with their software. No wait, that'll never happen.

    When I got my first Macintosh about 10 years ago I adored it until I got a loan of some games from my friends only to discover that their PCs wouldn't let my Macinstosh play any of their reindeer games :(

    I think that chip is for a piece of Communications equipment. I didn't have time to click you're link but i read about it a few days ago!

    EDIT: Well it actually says it explicitly when i bother to click... :)
