    Under WindowsXP
Trying to connect a ps2 keyboard to a usb port via an adapter.
    I get error:
    "USB Device Not Recognized
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."

Anybody know how to fix this?
    Laptop doesn't have a PS2 port

Is this a generic adaptor or one that came specifically with another piece of hardware as those specific ones have a tendency not to work with other equipment or so I've found.

If it is a generic adaptor I cant really think of anything as it should "just work" you may want to try another adaptor or a far easier solution get a USB keyboard.

On the off chance you do have service pack 2 for WinXP installed yes ?

    Generic.
Not an option (not my hardware).
    Yes.

Why cant you use a USB keyboard

Anyway what I would do is I would try another brand adaptor or another PS2 keyboard with your current adaptor to rule one or the other out as the cause of the problem.
