Problem with my 36" Widescreen Sony TV

Hi folks- this probably isn't the right forum for this question but in the absence(i think)of a section covering problems with Home Entertainment Equipment I know there are people out there who may be able to make suggestions. -
My TV is - Sony 36" Widescreen 100 Hz KVetc.. 3 years old bought from Currys Lmk for €1900.Believe it or not that was a good price then! TV is working perfectly but I think there is a slight problem coming. At least once or twice a week usually late at night(probably because it has been on for a good while) the TV switches itself off. The standby light then does 4 red flashes in a sequence.I believe you can identify the fault from this. You can just switch the TV back on and it is ok. I have contacted local Sony Centre and also the Sony appointed repair centre in Lmk. Both showed no interest in my problem. They basically said bring it in and we'll try and fix it.I said it weighs 90.7 kgs and won't fit in the car! Surely I thought, an engineer could call and fix it.ie. confirm the problem on first visit then order the part and call backin a week or two and fix it.I assume it may cost a couple of hundred to fix it - so be it.Just beware anyone buying a big TV, you need a strong army with you and a big car/van if you get a problem. I have two requests here 1) Can anyone predict what the prob with the TV probably is and 2)anyone know a competent TV repair outlet in Lmk that will actually call to your house..Surely such a person exists?!? if not I suggest someone gets into that business quickly.. Thanks a lot:(

Sounds like you need an engineer to repair it, as it looks like an internal fault.

I had a similar problem with a Sony KV32FX i also bought in Currys Limerick. My picture just went one night with a loud snap. Got a local (Dooradoyle) engineer to call and he brought his very handy trolly and took the set away. One week and 250 quid later the TV was perfect again.

    Bit of a coincidence?

Sorry meant to say...PM me and I can send you the engineers name and mobile number.

I came across a UK consumer electronics site about a year ago with a thread titled "Joke brands" I was amazed how often Sony got mentioned, very little of their stuff is manufactured in Japan any more.

Those 36" Flat Trinitrons are mega-heavy! And bulky to boot!

Surely there must be some local electrical store that could take it and bring it back?
