Work Problem

Just looking for some help and advise on the following situation:

I am working with a company for the last 7-8 months and it is going quite well, the MD proposed a Diploma Bus Mgt course and I agreed that I would like to undertake but what he has asked me to do is to give him a copy of an updated C.V and a 1 page letter detailing why I should go on the course.

My first problem is where to start with the letter? Anyone have any ideas, templates etc?

Secondly, and this is the bad part, when I joined the company I had just completed a Degree in Mech Eng but I didnt get the exams, the MD assumed that I did and sent a mail around the company in advance of me starting explaining my background & educational qualifications, including the degree in Mech Eng. Since that mail I have just gone along with it and said nothing! So in the updated C.V I will be lying about the degree.

1 way I thought about getting around this is that the 3 year diploma course I did in Mech Eng before the degree is now being conferred as an Ordinary Degree course so I could write in the C.V that I have completeded all exams for the Ordinary Degree?

I guess I dont want to get cought up in too much lies as I am not too hot at telling fibs. Help Help!

Afaik, you do not need to have one course in order to get into the other. Did you put the Mech Eng on your original CV to them, and that you passed? If you flossed over the results before, do it again.

The way I see it is, if you have been capable of doing your post up till now, and the diploma course is not relying on your having completed the exams - then go for it.

In your letter, do a bit of brown nosing. As I recall WWM posted a link about CV's and letters that others have found very useful. Mighn't be exactly along the lines of what you need, but might prepare you buzz-words wise and the usual corporate crap. :)

    Best of luck btw.

I think you should come clean about lack of degree. If he finds out then you could be sacked.
Out of interest is your degree required for your job? Do you need to have the Deg in Mech Eng to signon off on procedures/ designs/work practives etc?
If so and you don't have a degree you could be leaving the company open to getting sued and also yourself.
After all you wouldn't practice medicene w/o a degree or would you?
