Maxtor 1touch3 - instalation probs please help

HI. I bought a maxtor one touch 3, 500 gig external hide drive and have installed the drivers/software which came on the disk on my imac. Its coming up on the desktop as a volume but I cant drag files into it. When I get info, it has "read only" but Im unable to change this to read and write. Perhaps someone here has one…

HI.

Probably a silly question but it's not formatted as NTFS by any chance ? OS X can read NTFS but can't write to it.
