    hav 10 windows machines and thinking of getting a powermac g5 with os x server is it possible to make the windows xp machines authenticate using ldap on the os x server

    It should be no problem, OS X provides Samba as well as OpenLDAP.

    The recent versions of Samba can be configured to use LDAP to store user/password information and machine accounts in the same way you would do on a Linux system when setting Samba as a domain controller.
