    Hi there,

I took the plunge and finally bought the Canon 350D - along with the oh so praised 50mm f1.8 and the IS 17-85mm lenses. We got a really good deal in Hong Kong and where better to start practicing!

I must say, I'm really really impressed by the clarity and vibrancy of the shots, even when just using Auto (haven't read the manual yet!). The 50mm seems like a really good buy, and the pics are so sharp. I'm a very happy camper. Its my first move to a digital SLR, so its all really new to me, but the 350d seems like a very good starting point.

I do have one query however, the photos on the CF card seem to be seperated into folders containing 100 shots each, does anyone know if this can be disabled?

Attached are a couple of my first shots, am I getting too excited over nothing, or am I just an amature getting really excited because the sky came out blue?!

    Thanks for your reply!

Congrats on the new arrival! Regarding the folders on the card; you're stuck like that. Most canon cameras organise files & folders that way. You'll get used to it eventually. Keep posting shots.

Those folders are such a pain. especially if you take a lot on one card. But the camera is great! I love my 350 too...

Hi, thanks for the replies (this is Ken's girlfriend by the way, we went halves on the cam!)

We bought the body and the lenses in a great little place called 'Kinefoto' on 66-68 Stanley St, HK Island. We did our research and checked in 5 or 6 other recommended places ... however these guys at Kinefoto really knew their stuff, and had no qualms about us checking each lens with the body etc before purchase. He also went through each and every box checking the contents and checking the warrantees .... I felt that if anything had gone wrong with the equipment he would have had no problem sorting it out for us.
If I had bought the stuff at home in Ireland, we probably would have paid 4 or 500 euros more ....

    Thanks again,
    A-M
