Hi, Ive been give a computer to fix.

The problem with it is that when i switch it on it goes to a screen that says

The following file is missing or corrupted: C:\windows\IFSHLP.sys

    and...

The following file is missing or corrupted: C:\windows\system\vmm32.vxd

The computer wont advance any further.

From what i understand it is windows ME and these files are on ME directories but originally win 95.

I have no reinstall discs for ME but my friend has ME and will lend me his cd rom.

how will i extract these missing files and copy them onto the computer to be fixed???

Well you must boot with cd rom support.
Then you must go to the Cabnet file and i havn't a clue which one. Good luck finding it.
I think you use pkunzip then? i think thats the name of the app on the cd to extract it. It has been a while since i've done something like this.
If i were you i would just reinstall ontop of the current OS, would more than likely sort a few hidden problems out too.
