Death of relative

I live in Boston and just had a close relative die in Dublin (Drumcondra). Here we send flowers to the funeral home for the wake. Is that what you do in Ireland? Or should we send flowers to the house instead? Or is there another tradition or something else we should do?? They called and told us not to come and I dont want to call back with these questions.

Also here we usually find out about the wake and funeral arrangements from the newspaper beforehand. Is that the same..I could not find the name in the Irish Times. Is there another paper I could look in?

Thanks for any advice you could give me!!!

    Sorry for your loss.
Well I dont know about Dublin, but down the country most funerals involve a funeral home of some sort. And people can send flowers via the funeral home so the funeral director can take care of them and let the family know that flowers from relative "x" have arrived. But you still need to find out the details of the funeral in question. Perhaps trying to contact the local church for the details would work.
Hope this is of some help...

    Hey OP,

Sorry for your loss. I live in Glasnevin, which is right beside Drumcondra so I know that around here you can either send flowers to the house or send them to the funeral home, whichever suits best.

Also,if you can't find the funeral arrangements in the paper then try contacting the church. If your relative lived in Drumcondra, then it's likely the mass will be said in one of these churches:

    Our Lady Of Dolours,Glasnevin

Iona church (not too sure of the full name) or

    St. Peter's church ,Phibsborough.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Here is a link to the death notices from the irish independent. It may be listed here if not in the times.
